Situated in the central part of the Province of Quebec, Canada, in the middle of the Laurentian Mountains (map), Saguenay−Lac-Saint-Jean is dominated by two stretches of water, bordered by a very diverse landscape:
To the West is lower ground around the majestic Lake Saint-Jean and its numerous tributaries ;
To the East is the mountainous zone that encloses the Saguenay Valley River and permits direct access to the Saint-Lawrence River and the Côte-Nord (North Shore) and Charlevoix regions. The Saguenay River becomes a breathtaking fjord that is the only one of its kind in North America ;
To the North are the forestry roads of the boreal zone that lead to immense Black Spruce forests ;
And to the South is Highway 175. It crosses the Laurentide Park to Quebec City and offers awe-inspiring scenery from beginning to end.
