Background
Following a resolution by the Saguenay−Lac-Saint-Jean Regional Conference Board of Elected Officials (CRÉSLSJ) on September 13th, 2005, the Comité de maximisation des retombées économiques régionales (CMAX) became a permanent organisation.
Mission
Our mission is to maximise the economic returns of large-scale development projects carried out in Saguenay–Lac-Saint-Jean and help businesses access contracts more easily, by setting optimal conditions between large purchasing networks and regional suppliers.
Mandate
Facilitate communication between stakeholders, project promoters, business people, local organisations, targeted public with common interests, etc.
Gather all available information and obtain pertinent details from specialists, in order to better understand projects and economic returns.
Help attain and even exceed economic returns set by a project promoter.
Carry out follow-up during the project impact study period.
Periodically assess the local and regional economic returns generated by maximisation initiatives and, if need be, table recommendations for concerned parties.
The Committee is in charge of:
Contract analysis;
Subcontracting clauses;
Dispension: offering project achievement entrepreneurial skills;
Dividing contracts;
Meeting with entrepreneurs and the Subcontractor Trade Show Organisation Committee;
Supporting businesses seeking certification as official contract giver suppliers;
Monitoring.
